But just to be accurate the Eclipse is also called the Great North American Eclipse and its path will extend from Mexico through America to parts of Canada.
With the total transition of over 4 mins, this is definitely a crowd pleaser. You’ll see the diamond ring light proposal, then the Moon’s shadow cover the Sun in an eerie totality before the solar corona emerges, all happening at an average speed of 3,400km per hour. Now that’s what I call cosmic multitasking.
But what does this cosmic all stop, light–dark shift really mean? And how will it affect how we think, feel, the political landscape and our daily experience?
Top Ten ways you can benefit from a Total Solar Eclipse
1. It’s not all doom and gloom..
Total Solar Eclipses are very transformative events and it’s no surprise that the covering up of the light by the Moon’s shadow, has caused many to believe the lack of light is a bad omen. But our Human nature is often caught up in the fear and drama, taking things out of context rather than stepping back, Keeping Calm and carrying on to look at the whole picture.
No Total Eclipse can happen without the light being present in the first place. As we know in our life, we can choose a lighter more optimistic perspective or the shadows of ‘what if’ and doomist outcomes. So, the first wisdom of a Total Eclipse is ‘always look on the bright side of life.’ A Total Solar Eclipse, is the universe telling us that life’s a combination of light and dark and it’s up to us to choose the mix and the experience we truly want. Yes, Eclipses mean a certain phase in our lives is coming to an end. But it doesn’t mean the end needs to be dramatic or unhelpful.
The Sun is seen as the light of life, the masculine side of creation and by other traditions simply the light that enables creation. The Moon is Mother, nurturing, self-love and the Feminine principle that is present in us all, irrespective of our gender.
So, when the Total Solar Eclipse happens, it’s time for us to stop, step back and review the mix of our masculine and feminine energies. What’s ending? What’s starting and how can we balance these shifts.
Have we forgotten to focus, ground and organise our ideas so they can birth into reality? Are we all doing and no being? Are we all belief and no action? As Earth and Cosmos realign this will start to shift and accelerate the transition from old paradigm values to new paradigm values. It will also add momentum to developing our sacred inner connection and a growing need for a sense of meaning, purpose and authentic community.
The nature of creativity will transform from being dominated by logic, linear time frames, money and traditional power structures, into people led transformations demanding ‘Now’ solutions for the benefit of all. Yes, the power shift can feel a bit lumpy. Like reality gets compressed, slows to a crawl or speeds up to a ‘just go with it’ slip stream.
Governance that is out of touch will become obvious and increasingly under attack. Social accountability, quality of life indicators and emotional and mental fulfillment, will be the headlines that won’t go away. This Eclipse will start to forge the relationship of ‘we can do better than this,’ with choosing to support those who want to deliver better sooner. Conflict is going to bubble to the surface, upheaval even protest. But new ways to deal with every event will overflow. This is a time when people will join together to support unity but protest about the lack of authentic change.
Exploring what is actually possible and potential transformations will be top of the agenda from both people and personal pressure. Dragging out solutions will weaken governments rather than weaken reform. Aries energy has a nack of ring fencing and highlighting what is and isn’t working.
With political approval ratings and trust being at an all-time low, many sectors of the population will choose an independent route to personal breakthrough and give up waiting for governments to deliver reform. Those in power who deliver will be much more accountable for what they are providing and the practical journey to progress and transformation.
5. From power over to people empowerment..
Any Eclipse in Aries is going to shake up our personal perception of power, the right to choose and what we see as ‘empowerment’ as a whole. This will have an obvious impact on leadership and how our governance systems are sharing power with the people. Aries is a sign of independence, courage and the will to clarify, lead and galvanise popular support.
With Mars and Saturn in Pisces during the Eclipse, the majority will move much faster than in previous generations, to support conscious and decisive reform that benefits the majority. This will look like a big wave washing away leaders who rely on image rather than action.
This is a time when communities join up the dots globally between what was promised and what is actually being delivered. Two tier governance or the lack of willingness to ground practical change, with a popular purpose, will become obvious globally.
Those with proportional voting will see a rapid rise of new parties or fresh political faces. The first past the post systems won’t be able to plan for guaranteed pendulum swings and mass support is likely to spread between major parties, new parties and independent candidates. Governments such as UK and Europe could easily see a rise in coalitions rather than landslide majorities as a result of disaffected voters.
For America Pluto’s influence will highlight America’s future vision. 2024’s election is more likely to be a race to save, resurrect and rebirth American values rather than a popularity contest. With Democracy struggling to get its pants on or even stripped down to an Aries naked truth, the ridiculous will meet the radical. No amount of polls or political experts will be able to predict from previous trends and past elections. 2024 will mark the departure point from old paradigm politics into accelerated change. For the USA Pluto’s influence in Aquarius could easily have governmental climb downs, 11th hour recounts in many states not just swing states. And a reverse power grab with the American people reclaiming more power as government concedes to people pressure.
This is the first time that political pendulums could simply have a complete reset rather than a predictable over reaction. So, no huge swing to either traditional party and have a significant investment out of the status quo into charismatic leadership and new parties promising progressive reform.
6. Concentrated clarity, focus, purification and simplicity..
If you want to channel the Eclipse energy into healing trauma or work more on your shadow side, Aries energy is a fabulous tonic for inner clarity and purification. This Eclipse has both the conscious energy flow of Saturn in Pisces and the willingness to look more deeply into what isn’t working to edit and recycle.
This is the energetic equivalent of tearing off a band-aid because hiding what’s healing isn’t going to create trust or confidence. Aries is the home of self-belief and straight talking and would rather know the grass roots truth to build on than live in an uncertain limbo.
But just because there’s a will, the way doesn’t have to force change or suffering due to a zealous time table. All the planets in Pisces are urging us to consider conscious transformation but at the pace that works for our unique journey. Whatever space clearing you achieve or set in motion, don’t forget to also focus on the dream you want to materialise next. 7. The courage to turn away from extremes into balance..
Solar Eclipses often highlight what’s leaving our world like a passing Era or Paradigm. But some overlook the fact, this is also a great time to rebalance and realign your masculine and feminine energy aspects. Irrespective of gender, we all have a creative, allowing and nurturing side. And an active, clarifying, grounding side.
The Saturn, Neptune and Mars aspects all in Pisces, bring a softening collaborative approach drawing our inner workings into greater balance. But Aries always highlights the power of personal choice. To create greater harmony we need to choose to let go of inner conflict or misalignment. Pisces takes the edge off Aries and Aries brings more focus in channeling energy into authentic conscious value.
Therefore, this Eclipse will literally stop the world figuratively or literally to look at the big picture and the balance needed to be included in it. Aries gives us the courage not to take sides, rush to extremes or fight what isn’t working. Most importantly it initiates the courage to walk away from what can’t upgrade or change.
This is also a time when you could feel like starting from scratch but it’s more a question of building on balanced foundations, knowing you aren’t alone and you have the spiritual tools, experience and resources you need.
Balance can feel weird because much of our outside world is so extreme and polarised. Sun, Moon, North Node and Chiron in Aries will mark the beginning of an integrity reboot seeking simple answers, inspirational truths and highlighting the voices who want to make a difference rather than grab clicks or 15mins of fame.
Getting cancelled, laughing at taking life too seriously or supporting honesty rather than popularity, will become common initiations for those building the new paradigm and championing being yourself. If you’ve been putting up with situations that don’t resonate, lack integrity or authentic quality, this Eclipse will speed up opportunity and the willingness to take the required leap of faith into different and new.
9. Speeding up letting go and the decline of imbalanced relationships
Eclipse season is a great time to take stock, realign and recycle the parts of ourselves that are more burden or limitation than support. Aries can be accused of being selfish but this is more about dissolving resistance to change recharging our capacity to be self-loving and invest in clutter clearing to make room for new. Relationships, circumstances and foundational life structures will all benefit from review, makeover or recycling. And by embracing change we are all going to highlight the power of personal choice and reclaim a new balance point.
It’s not so much a dramatic cutting off, more a recognition of the value of your unique choices and what you spend your energy on. The passage of the South Node in Libra is further encouraging us to assess our personal and relationship balance. What’s draining, needy, fearful or scarce? What needs a faith makeover and what would we change if we knew we had all the resources in the world at our disposal?
10. Unchaining Andromeda and the rise of Goddess solutions
In the mythology of Ancient Greece, Andromeda was chained to a rock for the bosting bluster of her father who angered Neptune. The only way King Cepheus could stop his coast line being ravaged by continual storms was to offer his daughter Andromeda as a sacrifice.
Fortunately this isn’t a tragedy. And in true heroic style Perseus, all purpose Greek Hero, was able to kill the menacing sea creature and save Andromeda with the help of Medusa’s severed head. Messy I know, but what has this got to do with the Eclipse?
Well the fixed star constellation of Andromeda is within one degree of the Eclipse. And Aries the sign of innovation shouts a big message of the return of the Goddess by the temporary Eclipse of the Sun. Call it a sort of cosmic getting things into true proportion. Aries isn’t saying the Sun or Moon should go it alone. But in traditional terms the Eclipse is shouting at the top of its lungs about the decline in spiritual understanding and respect for our intuitive, Goddess side.
It’s fine to be who you are but don’t forget the part our own inner Goddess plays in that journey. It’s not all Mars with Goddess following three paces behind. And it’s not all ball-breaking Goddess with emasculated Mars coming a distant second.
Gone are the days of seeing this Eclipse as an all male affair. All Sun and no Moon. All force and not creativity. This is a time to appreciate how much we need the strength to care, to act with integrity and work with our inner balance to become the Hero and rescue ourselves by reinstating the role of our intuition, conscious creativity and nurturing patience.
This Eclipse also hints about how our global community, for whatever reason, walked away from balance, Arts and Culture, true innovation and exploration. All the Neptunial healing is showing us how we got stuck in extremes and polarities that drain and waste the heart of collective consciousness, our Planet and our Humanity.
Andromeda was chained to her rock through no fault of her own because of the Hubris and imbalanced leadership trying to control everything rather than invest in unity.
Perseus got creative to show everyone that creativity isn’t exclusively for women. And Andromeda’s endless faith, reminds us our male side doesn’t have the monopoly on courage.
Our inner Goddess doesn’t need a Hero to protect and rescue her. But we all need to walk away from extremes. And 2024, stabilise a new balance point where our inner God and Goddess can work together to restore, reclaim and rebirth our true nature.
This Eclipse gives us all the choice to start.
